But, it hasn’t been all up and to the right…
I remember NIGHT ONE of youth, nervous as I could be, and looked around and thought to myself, “Here’s 40 kids that aren’t friends and have had no leadership…Where the heck do I start?!”
I felt completely in over my head, lost and confused, with no formal training and little youth ministry experience, I was intimidated by the task of growing a healthy youth ministry to say the least. Have you ever been there?!
But, God showed up faithful through it all, and despite a million failures, set backs, mess ups and leadership lessons learned along the way, we grew!
We started with a handful of volunteers and 40 students to now, we have grown to a volunteer team of over 45 INCREDIBLE leaders, multiple youth staff, and over 350 students connected to our ministry, and over the last 6 years seen over 80 students make decisions to follow Jesus and get baptized!
We are NOT a perfect ministry or church, but God is ON THE MOVE in our Church and in the next generation…
We have seen God grow our ministry almost 10x in the last handful of years!
Praise Jesus for what HE HAS DONE!
A little of my Story...
I grew up in Kansas City going to church, going through the motions and had NO intentions of going into full time ministry…But then in my time at Kansas State University, I got plugged into college ministry where everything changed for me! I caught a heart for evangelism and disciple-making, I saw God’s heart for the world and the call to raise up leaders and laborers everywhere to go and share the hope of Jesus everywhere! I started sharing my faith and got to be a part of an amazing move of God on my campus.
Soon I met my wife who was on staff at a local church plant in Manhattan, Kansas where I continued to serve, lead small groups and build ministry teams. Before long, we had the opportunity to move back to Kansas City where we have been serving for over 6 years at the same church, Legacy Christian Church and seen God do some INCREDIBLE things in the lives of students and families in our community.
